Joint statement on closure of CAA to new entrants
The CAA Global Board, the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) have issued a joint statement on 30 June 2021 announcing the closure of the Certified Actuarial Analyst (CAA) qualification to new candidates as the organizations evolve their future qualification offerings:
“Following a strategic review by CAA Global Ltd (CAA Ltd) and its two shareholders, the IFoA and the SOA, the decision has reluctantly been taken to close the CAA qualification to new candidates as of October 2021.
As the actuarial employment landscape changes, the IFoA and the SOA are looking to evolve their qualification offerings to support early career students to progress along the actuarial qualification pathway.
Transitional arrangements have been put into place to ensure new and existing CAA candidates continue to receive the support they need to successfully complete their qualification journey. The CAA qualification will continue to be recognised through membership of the IFoA or the SOA Center.
The actuarial employment market, and the skills and areas students setting out on an actuarial career will need to navigate and succeed in, are changing rapidly. CAA Ltd, the IFoA and the SOA remain dedicated to supporting students on actuarial paths. As leading international professional organisations, we are committed to playing a central role to equip early career students with the skills and competencies sought after by businesses, governments and other key stakeholders, as well as having fulfilling and rewarding careers.
The IFoA and the SOA are exploring how each organisation can best enable students to progress in their studies on a pathway to actuarial associateship and will be making further announcements in due course.”
